Part 2: Tips For Affording A Luxury Resort

Do you believe that you have to be rich to stay at a luxury property? Or maybe you believe it takes a lifetime of savings to afford this experience. Well, I’m here to tell you that this is not the case. Read the last sentence on the Meet Mike page, and you’ll see it says that I want to inspire others to live their best lives. This includes you as well. Here’s to a life of luxury!

Travel With Others

You’ll soon learn that I’m a huge proponent of solo travel; however, this is the trip where I recommend you travel with others. By sharing the costs, you won’t be as financially burdened as much as you would traveling alone.

Timing

I suggest booking a room at least 2 months in advance to get better prices. The closer it gets to the day you want to stay at the property, the higher the prices will be for rooms.

Avoid booking your room on busy days. This includes holidays which vary from country to country, so keep this in mind when you’re planning your trip. Also, avoid booking on the weekends because these are generally leisure days and times people want to get away; therefore, prices will be higher. Finally, vacation during low tourism seasons. It’s a quick google search to find out this information.

Accessibility and Opportunity

As a budget traveler, luxury hotels are never going to be within budget; in addition, these hotels proclaimed as 7-star properties aren’t going to be located everywhere. You’re going to have to go out of your way to get there which can also be costly. This is when the budget traveler becomes the opportunist.

Check out this scenario:

I googled “7-star hotels,” and the Town House Galleria Hotel in Italy appeared in the results. Personally, I couldn’t justify flying from the U.S. to Italy to spend $400 a night on a hotel room. However, if I were planning a vacation to Italy with a friend during low tourism season, and there was a room at the same hotel for $200 per night, I’d share the cost with my friend. That’s a $100 a night per person. I applied this strategy in Brunei. Now you know one of the secrets to affording a 7-star resort!

A Couple of Days Is Enough

Avoid staying at the resort the entirety of your vacation. Instead, make it the highlight. If your vacation is a week or so, spend the majority of those days staying at a cheap accommodation. Use this time to sightsee, shop, party, and explore the area. Then spend Tuesday and Wednesday relaxing at the resort. If it’s a 5-star resort (or property advertised as 7-star), there are going to be activities to keep you busy.

Conclusion

Remember, it’s about the experience and not the lifestyle. Even sumptuous properties offer free services and activities. Take advantage of this and don’t spend liberally on every occasion that presents itself (unless you got it like that!). Eventually, you’re going to go home and have to look at your bank account.
